VIP KID TEACHER AND HOMESCHOOL MAMA // HOW I DON’T DO IT ALL

If we’re gal pals on Instagram, you may have noticed I took some time off. For so many good reasons! The first is that we started homeschool. It’s the core of my days and the reason I live! Okay maybe a bit dramatic, but adding homeschool mama to my resume was one thing I’ll look back on with tears in my eyes & gratitude flowing from my soul. Be sure to ask me if I still feel this way after the kiddos wake up, ha! Second reason I took a social media break was that I started teaching for VIP Kid!! Hold up Waynna Minute, you mean the title of this blog post didn’t give it away? lol!

I knew I would have to give up something in order to have the time & energy to add teaching into my days, so I decided to take some time off of Instagram. Nothing against it, but I do spend some time on sharing All Graced Up tees & content.

I came across this teaching opportunity in June and when I wasn’t sure if this is the direction I should go, I remembered how my dad used to tell my grandparents, ‘Little Waynna has the best handwritin’, she’s gonna be a school teacher!’. Maybe not exactly what he had envisioned, but here I am teaching ESL through my computer screen, from home! I’m sharing this because if you see the good in someone, speak it out. Without knowing it, I hold onto these words when I doubt what I’m qualified to do. Not that good handwritin’ will save me, lol! But he saw something good in me & spoke it out. Also, my bestie Randi told me recently, ‘You were born to teach!’. That week, I went into my ESL classes with my head held high. I tucked my homeschool goals under my arm, sat down with the kids and proclaimed, “I was born to teach!!”. Then my youngest threw her alphabet book across the room, but that’s a story for another day, ha!

Long story short, in my present season, there’s nothing more important than words of encouragement & I’m sure so many mamas can attest to this! No matter what we have to do, choose to do or choose not to do, I think what we need most is support & encouragement.

I believe this is the true for dads too! So here are some words of encouragement for all of us, “We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special people.” (see 1 Peter 2:9 for full verse). There is so much power in these words, right?!

Regardless of who I am, I am not capable of doing it all. I’ve noticed that since I started teaching, we’ve eaten out more & I feel more tired. I’m learning to take lots of breaks & get outside more & I think my homeschoolers need this too. I’m learning to express gratitude every moment of the day. To take deep breaths and to focus on what I’ve gained. I’ve gained a new experience, a love of a culture I don’t know much about, the ability to sometimes get a head start on the day annnnnd an opportunity to encourage the future generation!

When I doubt if I’m doing the ‘right’ thing or too many things, this verse brings me so much direction, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

If you’ve gotten this far in the post, thank you! I hope to be back soon to chat more about VIP Kid & what homeschool is looking like for us lately. I also plan to share the steps and timeline of how I started All Graced Up, as an entity.

With grace & coffee,

Waynna
